Hello! Because I’ve been so behind on writing posts about our May loop around the Carolinas, I didn’t bother to write a planning post for our October trip, so here’s the planning and recap all at once! We had plans with friends in the West Virginia mountains in early October, so used that as an excuse to get the Airstream out and expand the trip into the North Carolina mountains as well. The trees were gorgeous, the weather was fantastic, and we visited a mix of new-to-us places and old favorites.
Here’s where we went; individual posts to come:
- Two nights in Alderson, WV
- Two nights at the Greenbrier Resort for a friend’s birthday. We stashed the Airstream in the White Sulphur Springs train station parking lot: there’s a big section for buses and RVs, and it’s a short walk or shuttle ride across the street to the resort. I won’t write a post for that stop because we weren’t technically Airstreaming, but in 2023 we wrote about visiting the Greenbrier while staying in the Airstream.
- Two nights in Banner Elk, NC
- One night in Waynesville, NC
- One night in Bryson City, NC
- One night in Asheville, NC
It was a quick trip, but we packed in as much adventuring as we could to soak up the fall vibes in the mountains!
