Happy belated Thanksgiving! Once again, I was so behind on trip posts that I didn’t bother writing a planning post for this trip. My family has a Thanksgiving tradition of gathering at my sister’s in the North Carolina piedmont the Saturday before Thanksgiving, and J and I like to bring our own guest room and park it in her driveway. We were due back at her house the Monday after Thanksgiving for another family event, so it only made sense to do a little Airstream trip in the middle.
This is the third Thanksgiving we’ve used the party as an excuse for a trip:
With only a week or so to travel, our preferred Airstream trip is into the North Carolina mountains, and this time we popped up into the Smokies in Tennessee as well. The first half of the trip was warm and sunny and delightful, and the second half was cold and rainy but still delightful.
Here’s where we went; individual posts to come:
- One night in Morganton, NC
- Two nights in Townsend, TN
- Two nights in Brevard, NC
- Two nights in Hendersonville, NC
- One night in Black Mountain, NC
We adore Western North Carolina. Tennessee, we’re not so sure about… but more on that later.
