We visited Asheville in October 2025 as part of our October WV/NC Mountains loop. Read about alllll our other Asheville visits here.
We stopped for a night in Asheville to break up the drive home from Bryson City, an hour west. But we also stopped because we love Asheville! This will be a boring post because we did Asheville stuff we’ve done before.
Campground

We stayed at Bear Creek in site 6, and had no trouble setting up Starlink. Bear Creek is a convenient and peaceful place to camp.
Food and drink and art
Our usual Asheville activities!

First order of business: ordering our favorite salads for lunch on the road the following day. The paneer desi salad from Botiwalla is sooooo good, and Uber Eats had already dropped two off at the campground office when we arrived.

Next up: head Into town to see what was new at Momentum Gallery. This visit, I was particularly struck by Ivy Jacobsen’s work.

Snack time: seasonal G&T and local trout dip at Sovereign Remedies. Fab.

Cocktail hour: stop by the bar at Imperial. Their street food menu looks yummy.
Dinner: score seats at the bar at Limones and share ceviche and a salad.

Nightcap: after popping into Barley’s Taproom to catch some of the Commanders game (cool spot, terrible game), we landed at our old favorite brewery, Burial.

Breakfast: lattes and Sunrise bagel sandwiches from Ultra, down the road from Bear Creek in the River Arts District.
Two ideas we’d noted in our research but saved for another visit:
- new rooftop bar in RAD – Radical
- new rooftop bar in downtown – Luminosa
After breakfast, we packed up the Airstream and headed home! It was a whirlwind trip through the gorgeous fall foliage of West Virginia and western North Carolina, and our first Airstream trip without our Airstream dog Bugsy. We miss her dreadfully, especially on the road where she’s part of every memory, but at the same time we feel closest to her when RV traveling. So, until the next trip… here’s to Bugsy!
