Quickie fall loop: Erwin, TN – Asheville, NC – Lake Lure, NC

We did this loop from November 15 to November 20, 2021.

We live in central Virginia, and when we want to take the Airstream out for a few days our usual quickie destination is Asheville. We’ve been there a bunch of times and it checks all the boxes for us: great food, beer, cocktails, hiking, a convenient campground, and more great beer.

But for a trip of six days, we wanted to add some variety. We decided to add a night on either end of our Asheville stay in two new-to-us places: Erwin, TN and Lake Lure, NC. We chose Erwin for its location just off the interstate on the way to Asheville, and because the campground looked awesome. And we chose Lake Lure because of its ties to Dirty Dancing, I won’t lie.

Stay tuned for posts about each location. Here’s the trip summary, while you wait: Of course Asheville was fantastic, and we’ll 100% go back to the riverfront campground in Erwin, but we’ve probably done all we need to do in Lake Lure–although they have one of the coolest breweries we’ve seen in a while.

Ok! Here’s the Erwin post! and here’s the Asheville post and here’s the Lake Lure post!
