A Year with an Airstream

(Look how shiny it was when we first picked it up! It’s not that shiny today.)

One year ago we had just picked up our brand new Airstream from the dealership and spent a couple days at a nearby state park outfitting the trailer and practicing camping. Since then, we’ve done several regional short trips to Richmond, Fredericksburg, Roanoke, and Damascus in VA and Canaan Valley in WV; camped in the Airstream at a four-day music festival; and drove out west for a 3.5-month Big Trip. In the Fall we moved into the Airstream full-time, and as I write this we’re in Austin on a multi-week trip.

So, you could say it has been a good purchase. We are 100% happy with our decision to buy the 27FB model, and with our tow vehicle, a Ford F-150. Neurotic Bugsy has exceeded our (and our vet’s) expectations in embracing the Airstream life. J and I haven’t killed each other yet. Here’s to many more years of adventures!

  1. Of course, Bugsy has embraced Airstream life. She is living the good life in every way. And, as for not killing each other, I’d day it’s mostly due to your good nature. James is enough like me, his mother, to be very killable on any given day! I’m glad you two found each other and Bugsy…a lovely family unit. Of course, Bugsy is a bit indulged. If she were human, she’d be a very spoiled brat!
