Our next Airstream adventure is a doozy.

We full-timed in the Airstream in Crozet for six months in late 2016-early 2017.

The Airstream is settled back home in Virginia for the foreseeable future, except for brief jaunts here and there: three days in Southwestern VA, a four-day music festival, and next week, a few days of hiking in WV. But a couple weeks ago we started a different kind of Airstream adventure: while our non-wheeled house undergoes renovations, we’re living in the Airstream full-time.

We didn’t have to add much to our supplies to transition to full-timers. Really, we just loaded more clothes on board. We still have access to the basement of our under-construction house for storage–so we’re not trying to cram seldom-used items like camping equipment and dressy clothes into the Airstream’s wee closet and maxed-out under-bed storage. Space is a little tight–tighter than usual, that is–but it’s manageable for the three of us. We’re a bit farther from our city’s downtown than we’re used to, but we’re getting to explore a quaint new neighborhood. (Bonus: we have three breweries within a few minutes’ drive!) The campground is lovely, with trails in the woods, wildlife aplenty, and our campsite backs up to a cow pasture.

We’ll be in the Airstream through the winter, which might be challenging, but if we’re completely miserable we can always pick up and move our home in search of warmer climes! Bugsy is happy here so far, and if Bugsy is happy, we’re happy.

  1. I have phone numbers for a couple of good divorce lawyers. Just let me know which one of you wants them first.
